'Plants vs Zombies 2' Gets A Release Date and A 'Mass Effect'-Themed Surprise

Z7 Day is almost here.

EA announced today that they can officially narrow down their original release window for 'Plants vs Zombies 2' to a specific day: February 23rd. It's a lot earlier than Popcap was expecting, which is definitely a great sign development is going along smoothly.

To celebrate the news, they've also released a new gameplay teaser in which the zombie side of the Plants/Zombie affair gets some serious help in the form of a very familiar looking mech. Specifically, what is being dubbed the Z7 mech from some hitherto unknown series known as 'Grass Effect'. It comes fully loaded as well, with a Zomni-tool blade, and the biotic ability Pull. See for yourself in the trailer below. The mech along with 14 special emojis will be available via pre-order. Now, if you ever get the option for a zombie to punch out a reporter, we can call 2016 GOTY a done deal early.
