2K Announces Online Support Plans for Legacy Titles Such as 'Borderlands' and 'Civilization IV'

Online play ending for many titles.

2K Games has announced that in wake of the discontinuation of the GameSpy online service, several legacy titles will be migrated over to Steamworks, which will cause a temporary interruption but will also ensure that these games can continue to be enjoyed. At stake of course in the ability to play these games online with other players. This migration will begin on May 31st. Here is the list of titles set for transition:

Borderlands® (PC)
Civilization® III
Civilization® III: Conquests
Civilization® III: Play the World
Civilization® IV
Civilization® IV: Beyond the Sword
Civilization® IV: Colonization
Civilization® IV: Warlords

At the same time as these popular titles will remain active for the foreseeable future, several other lesser games will not be supported after May 31st. Here is a list of games and platforms:

Jetfighter V: Homeland Protector (PC)
Leadfoot (PC)
Rune (PC)

2K Games has also announced a third category of games affected by the discontinuation of the GameSpy online service, and these titles still have hope of continued online play. The two PS3 titles mentioned, 'Borderlands' and 'Civilization Revolution,' will go offline on May 31st, but 2K Games is still investigating the feasibility of continuing the online features through another service.
