The new Full HD Fire tablet is now available for pre-order.
Amazon has announced its latest Fire HD tablet model. The next-gen Fire HD 10 features an improved display, updated specs, and several new features.
"For less than $150, the all-new Fire HD 10 offers a beautiful 1080p Full HD display, faster performance, more storage, and up to 10 hours of battery life," said Kevin Keith, General Manager, Amazon Devices. "We're also excited to introduce Alexa hands-free for the first time on a Fire tablet. Now, you can ask Alexa to play a video, show you your calendar, dim the lights, and much more—using just your voice."
The tablet features a 10.1” widescreen 1080p Full HD display with 224 ppi. Under the hood, the device is powered by a quad-core processor with up to 1.8 GHz and 2GB of RAM -- offering 2x the RAM and a 30% speed bump over the previous generation Fire HD 10 model. 32GB or 64GB internal storage options will be available, and the unit supports up to 256GB of additional storage through a microSD card. Front and rear facing cameras are integrated as well, along with dual stereo speakers and Dolby Atmos audio tech.
In addition, the new Fire HD 10 will also be the first Fire tablet to include Alexa hands-free support, allowing users to play or pause a video, find music, set a timer, view calendars, and more through voice commands. Likewise, customers will be able to use Alexa on their tablet to control smart home devices from SmartThings, Insteon, ecobee, Wink, and more.
Pre-orders for the Fire HD 10 are now live with prices starting at 149.99. Shipments are expected to begin on October 11.
