"Details coming later in 2014."
Major Nelson, PR wrangler for Microsoft, has shared some details regarding the 'Xbox Games With Gold' program. The program was introduced this past summer and is now winding down. The program featured two free 360 titles per month for Xbox Live Gold members in a manner not unlike Sony's PlayStation Plus Instant Game Collection. Unlike PlayStation Plus, the Xbox Live Games with Gold program gave users the games permanently. (PS Plus games require a continued subscription.)
Despite featuring big names like 'Halo' and 'Assassin's Creed,' the program was not the most popular. The limited scope, timing, and title selection could easily have been viewed as a way to get gamers to maintain their Xbox Live Gold membership until the release of the Xbox One.
Now though, the program may become a bit more attractive as it looks to return with the Xbox One in mind, albeit not for a few months at least.
From Major Nelson, "Great news: Access to free games each month is coming for Xbox Live Gold members on #XboxOne – Details coming later in 2014."
