A recently-added listing on the official HD DVD web site would seem to indicate that Universal Studios Home Entertainment is on the verge of announcing the cult hit 'Hot Fuzz' for HD DVD release sometime in the coming months.
A promo spot appeared for the title earlier this week on the www.thelookandsoundofperfect.com, the official promotional website of the HD DVD Forum, under the "Coming Soon" banner.
Though no specs, street date or other details are given, the listing includes box cover art for 'Hot Fuzz,' alongside a number of other yet-to-be-announced titles, including 'Shaun of the Dead,' 'Darkman,' and 'Sea of Love. Unlike 'Hot Fuzz,' however, all of the other included titles had been previewed earlier in the year at CES.
Still enjoying a hit run in theaters, Universal has not yet announced a formal video release for 'Hot Fuzz,' either on DVD or HD DVD.
For the most part, however, the Look and Sound of Perfect website has proven to be an accurate barometer of upcoming releases, and Universal is one of the site's key promotional partners. So signs look promising for a pending announcement.
In anticipation of an official confirmation for 'Hot Fuzz' from the studio, we've added the title to the "Release Dates Pending" section of our HD DVD Release Schedule. Stay tuned!
Thanks to both Ryan and Victor for the tip!
