At last making its domestic high-def debut, Universal will bring Roman Polanski's Oscar-winning epic 'The Pianist' to HD DVD this January.
The recipient of Oscars for Best Director (Polanski) and Best Actor Adrien Brody, 'The Pianist' first hit HD DVD in overseas territories earlier this last year to great acclaim (our own Peter Bracke gave the disc glowing marks in his review of the import release).
Now, Universal will bring the highly-acclaimed Holocaust epic to the US on January 8, kicking off the studio's next-gen slate for 2008.
Tech specs for the domestic edition include 1080p/VC-1 video and both Dolby TrueHD and Dolby Digital-Plus 5.1 surround tracks.
Extras are slim, however, with only the "Story of Survival" featurette and the film's original theatrical trailer.
List price has been set at $29.98.
