Bringing the first of its classic musicals to high-def, Fox has announced a late-March Blu-ray release for 'South Pacific.'
The 1958 blockbuster adaptation of the Rogers & Hammerstein favorite, starring Mitzi Gaynor, Ray Walston and John Kerr, 'South Pacific' will make its high-def debut on March 31. (Fox previously released a special edition DVD version in 2006.)
Tech specs will see a BD-50 dual-layer disc with 1080p/AVC MPEG-4 video (2.20:1) and DTS-HD Lossless Master Audio 5.1 Surround audio.
There are supplemental specs available as of yet, but a package comparable to the DVD is expected. We'll keep you posted.
Suggested list price for the Blu-ray has been set at $34.99.
