A new big-screen version of the series will hit theaters in November.
Sony has released the first trailer for Charlie's Angels. This new take on the franchise is directed by Elizabeth Banks, and is set to premiere on November 15, 2019.
In Banks’ bold vision, Kristen Stewart, Naomi Scott, and Ella Balinska are working for the mysterious Charles Townsend, whose security and investigative agency has expanded internationally. With the world’s smartest, bravest, and most highly trained women all over the globe, there are now teams of Angels guided by multiple Bosleys taking on the toughest jobs everywhere. The screenplay is by Elizabeth Banks from a story by Evan Spiliotopoulos and David Auburn.

In addition to Kristen Stewart, Naomi Scott, and Ella Balinska, the movie also stars Noah Centineo, Sam Claflin, Djimon Hounsou, Elizabeth Banks, and Patrick Stewart. Meanwhile, Banks also serves as a producer, along with Max Handelman, Elizabeth Cantillon, and Doug Belgrad.
Charlie's Angels is based on the television series of the same name created by Ivan Goff and Ben Roberts, and produced by Aaron Spelling. The original show ran from 1976-1981 and starred Kate Jackson, Farrah Fawcett, Jaclyn Smith, Cheryl Ladd, Shelley Hack, Tanya Roberts, and David Doyle.
A previous big-screen adaptation starring Cameron Diaz, Drew Barrymore, Lucy Liu, and Bill Murray was released in 2000, and was followed by a sequel in 2003. Likewise, a rebooted TV series starring Annie Ilonzeh, Minka Kelly, Rachael Taylor, and Ramón Rodríguez ran briefly in 2011 before being canceled.
Though initially expected to be a complete reboot, reports now indicate this new film will feature connections to the original show and previous films.
