The impressive Ultra HD projector will be available soon in select markets.
After being demoed back at CES in January, Sony has finally set a release window for its 4K Ultra Short Throw Projector. The device is capable of creating an Ultra HD image up to 147-inches.
"The 4K Ultra Short Throw Projector provides a completely new and innovative life space experience that only Sony can deliver," said Michael Fasulo, Sony Electronics President and COO. "We believe there is a healthy appetite in the luxury entertainment marketplace for state-of-the-art design and technological advancement, and we are excited to see how consumers respond to what we believe is a very special and transformative product."
Designed to unobtrusively blend into a user's room, the short throw projector features a resolution of 4096 x 2160 and requires no special tools or installation. The device can be placed right next to most walls, using the projector's laser light source to instantly turn them into movie screens. In addition, the projector supports current media services like cable, satellite, Video Unlimited 4K, and Netflix to deliver HD and Ultra HD content to your living room. Other features include Sony's 4K X-Reality PRO and Triluminous display technologies, 3D capabilities, and four HDMI inputs.
The 4K Ultra Short Throw Projector will be available to order in the New York metropolitan area later this month for $50,000. Customers can inquire about the product through Sony's website or by calling 866-294-7669. Availability is then expected to expand to more cities throughout the country.
