The Japanese tale of crime and corruption 'Shamo' is headed to high-def, with Tai Seng announcing a late-May Blu-ray release.

Based on the 19-volume manga series, the Soi Cheang-directed, ultra-violent action hit will receive its domestic debut on Blu-ray May 26 (day-and-date with the standard DVD).

Tech specs see a BD-50 dual-layer presentation with 1080p video (1.85:1), Cantonese Dolby TrueHD 7.1 Surround and Cantonese and English Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround tracks, and English and Chinese subtitles.

There's no word yet on extras, but we'll keep you posted.

Suggested retail price for the Blu-ray has been set at $34.95.
