The latest models will be on display at CES 2019.
Samsung has revealed first details for its upcoming 2019 lineup of Lifestyle displays. The collection will include new versions of "The Frame" and "SERIF" TVs.
"The traditional TV was only focused on technical features, such as picture quality and performance, but now TVs are also a lifestyle platform that blends in consumers’ daily life," said Jongsuk Choo, Executive Vice President of Visual Display Business at Samsung Electronics. "This year's models of The Frame and SERIF TV are enhanced lifestyle TVs that deliver a TV experience like nothing before."
Emphasizing premium design, The Frame is a display built to look like a picture frame hanging on a user's wall when not in use as a TV. When in Art Mode, The Frame can display digital pieces of artwork, including paintings and pictures instead of fading to black like a traditional television. In addition, the device's Luminance Sensor can adjust colors on-screen to match the ambient brightness of a user's room. Over 1,000 pieces of art will be available via the TV's Art Store, offering access to newly added selections from the Uffizi Galleries in Italy, the Van Gogh Museum in The Netherlands, Te Papa in New Zealand, and more.
And beyond aesthetic perks, 2019 models will also utilize QLED panels and Bixby AI, offering improved contrast and 100% color volume, along with voice control and extensive smart TV functions.
Meanwhile, The SERIF TV was developed in collaboration with designers Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec to fit into a user's home like a piece of furniture. The display features an unconventional design that resembles a capital "I" when viewed in profile, complete with a small, shelf-like surface at the top. And like the new Frame models, the 2019 SERIF TVs will also use QLED technology to offer improved picture performance. In addition, the displays will include support for Samsung's Ambient Mode as well.
Unlike previous models, which were only sold in furniture and department stores, the 2019 lineup will be available for purchase from electronics retailers as well.
The new Frame and SERIF TVs will be on display at CES 2019 in Las Vegas from January 8-11.
