Report: PlayStation Now Beta Invites Are Being Sent Out

Posted Jan 29, 2014 at 12:00 AM PST by Brian Hoss

Keep that PS3 hardwired.

If you can believe the Twitter feed of a PlayStation PR guy, PlayStation Now beta invites are being sent out to users. Sony had promised to initiate a beta for the game-streaming service in the month of January, and these invites appear to qualify.

As stated, this beta would seem to be testing streaming PS3 games to PS3s, and it also seems that hardwired PS3s with a 5 mbs or higher connection are recommended.

Sony demonstrated PlayStation Now at CES on new Bravias, but in spite of the positive feedback, the expectations are much greater when involving game-streaming over the internet rather than a local network. Several details about PlayStation Now remain uncertain, including cross-save compatibility for titles like 'The Last of Us,' which this initial beta should help to determine.
