It's official: an over-sized Eddie Murphy will be hitting Blu-ray and HD DVD on June 5, when DreamWorks releases the smash comedy 'Norbit' on both next-gen formats day-and-date with the standard DVD.
Currently nearing the $100 million mark in domestic box office receipts, 'Norbit' sees Murphy returning to his ribald comedy roots, playing both the nebbish title character and his "monstrous" fiancee -- thanks to a little help from a giant latex fat suit.
'Norbit' will be distributed via DreamWorks' parent Paramount Home Entertainment, who have yet announced specs for the Blu-ray or HD DVD editions.
Retail has been set at $39.99 each.
'Norbit' follows 'Dreamgirls' (announced for May 1 release) as the latest in an influx of Paramount Murphy titles coming to high-def. The studio is already set to debut a pair of his most popular catalog comedies on both formats June 5 along with 'Norbit' -- 'Trading Places' and 'Coming to America.'
We'll keep you posted as soon as full specs come in for this latest addition to the Eddie Murphy high-def bonanza. In the meantime, you can find the latest details for all of Paramount's upcoming titles in our complete Blu-ray Release Schedule and HD DVD Release Schedule.
