Three new cast members have been added to the show.
Netflix has announced the addition of three cast members to the upcoming second season of 'Stranger Things.' Sean Astin, Paul Reiser, and Linnea Berthelsen will all join the series when the show returns in 2017.
According to a report from Entertainment Weekly, Astin will play Bob Newby, the manager of the Hawkins RadioShack who went to high school with Joyce Byers (Winona Ryder) and Sheriff Hopper (David Harbour). Meanwhile, Reiser will play Dr. Owens, a Department of Energy official tasked with containing the events of the show's first season. Finally, Berthelsen is set to play Roman, an emotionally damaged, magnetic young woman who suffered a great loss as a child.
In addition to the three new cast members, Netflix also recently announced that Sadie Sink and Dacre Montgomery will both be joining the second season as well. Likewise, Joe Keery, who plays Steve Harrington, and Noah Schnapp, who plays Will Byers, have both been promoted from recurring to series regulars for season two. Plot details have not been announced yet, but the show will pick up in the fall of 1984. Season two of 'Strangers Things' will premiere in 2017 and is set to include nine episodes. Meanwhile, all eight season one episodes are now available for streaming globally through Netflix.
Other upcoming Netflix premieres include 'Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life' on November 25, '3%' on November 25, 'Fuller House' season two on December 9, 'Barry' on December 16, 'A Series of Unfortunate Events' on January 13, 'David Brent: Life on the Road' on February 10, and 'Iron Fist' on March 17.
A current Netflix subscription starts at $10 for HD streaming and $12 for Ultra HD streaming.
