Jealousy abound.
There's another beta going on this week, and though it may not be as glamorous or obviously important, 'The Crew' is still remarkably similar to 'Destiny.' Except for the part where you drive in a car the entire time. Still, both games straddle the line between MMO and regular old online multiplayer. The introduction video for 'The Crew's' PC-exclusive closed beta, which runs from July 21 to July 25, is a densely packaged rundown of how the game works.
The entire map is open to free-roam during the beta, though only two areas will feature challenges and missions. The video throws in a couple of surprises though. The skills challenges mirror the popular 'Trackmania' in allowing racers to compete side-by-side without actualy collision. The fast travel seems almost immediate and accurate to any point on the map, not just set hubs. Still, above anything else, the map size and animated custimzation are a little mind-blowing.
You can still sign up for the beta here, though there's no guaruntee you'll be invited. After the beta, 'The Crew' is set for release on Nov. 11 for PC, Xbox One and PS4.
