Plot thickens for Amazon's game plans.
Double Helix has made a name for itself by making console games. Whether it was 'Silent Hill: Homecoming,' 'Front Mission: Evolved,' 'Killer Instinct' or even 'Strider,' the company's output has been all about console gaming, and more recently included both the Xbox One and PS4. And because of that reputation as a full-scale console game devloper, Amazon's acquisition of the Double Helix less than two months ago continues to be the subject of speculation. A Double Helix job listing on Amazon's job site only adds fuel to that speculation.
The job listing is for a Senior Software Engineer, one who has had 3+ years of experience shipping console or mobile titles, understands common game media formats such as FBX, and is experienced with world building through Unity, Unreal, CryEngine, or other 3D engines.
The description seems quite clear that it is intended for a 3D title, which then leaves the question, is it a 3D title for an Android platform, such as Amazon's rumored console, or an existing console/PC platform? Should Amazon decide not to answer that question in the coming months, it's quite likely that the answer will emerge on its own.
