The iconic smuggler is heading back to theaters in May.
Disney and Lucasfilm have released a new behind-the-scenes featurette for Solo: A Star Wars Story, sharing some more details on the plot while offering our best look yet at Alden Ehrenreich as Han. The film is set to premiere on May 25, 2018.
The video focuses on the title character's journey into becoming the hero fans have come to love, with lots of clips from the movie along with some insights from director Ron Howard, co-writer Lawrence Kasdan, and stars Alden Ehrenreich, Donald Glover, and Emilia Clarke. Check out the featurette below!
Though initially directed by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller (The Lego Movie), the studio replaced the filmmaking pair with Ron Howard following creative differences during the shoot. Howard then reshot portions of the movie and finished the production based on a script by writers Jon Kasdan & Lawrence Kasdan. The movie stars Alden Ehrenreich as a younger version of the iconic smuggler first made famous by Harrison Ford in the original trilogy. Additional cast members include Donald Glover as Lando Calrissian, Joonas Suotamo as Chewbacca, Emilia Clarke, Thandie Newton, Woody Harrelson, and Paul Bettany.
Beyond Solo: A Star Wars Movie, Disney is set to release Star Wars: Episode IX on December 20, 2019. The final entry in the trilogy will be directed by J.J. Abrams. In addition, filmmaker Rian Johnson (Star Wars: The Last Jedi) is developing an entirely new trilogy of Star Wars films, and Game of Thrones showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss are also working on new films for the franchise. Meanwhile, Jon Favreau has been tapped to executive produce and write a new live-action Star Wars show for Disney's upcoming streaming platform.
