Following a limited retail run at Costco, Disney is bringing three Blu-ray "Best Of" bundles to retailers nationwide.
As we first reported last month, Disney quietly rolled out a trio of Blu-ray bundles exclusively to Costco earlier this summer. Each of the sets included a total of four top Disney Blu-ray flicks, all with the same tech specs and cover art as the previously-released stand-alone versions.
Disney is now making these same three packs available to retailers nationwide, with pre-orders for the bundles recently appearing at such major online outlets as Amazon.com.
Unlike their Costco counterparts, however, which were priced at a nicely discounted $84.99 a pop (a savings of $50 over buying each title separately), Disney has set an MSRP of $139.99 for the bundles, leaving it up to the individual retailer to set their own price savings (if any).
The titles included are as follows:
The "Action Movies" four-pack includes 'Pearl Harbor,' 'Gone in 60 Seconds,' 'The Guardian' and 'Deja Vu'; the "Family Movies" four-pack includes 'Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl,' 'Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest,' 'Invincible' and 'Eight Below'; and finally, the "Disney Movies" four-pack includes 'The Wild,' 'Chicken Little,' 'Dinosaur' and 'Bridge to Terabithia.'
Amazon has listed each of the bundles at $97.95 a piece, with a November 6th release date (according to Disney, release dates may vary by individual retailer).
With these new bundles, Disney joins Warner as the only two studios to currently offer repackaged collections of their top high-def discs, although if these "best of" packs begin to catch on, other studios are sure to follow.
As always, we'll keep you posted on any new bundled releases from Disney or any other studios as soon as they are officially announced. Watch this space!
