William Wyler's 1968 film starring Barbra Streisand and Omar Sharif will be getting the Blu-ray treatment in 2013.
In an early announcement to retailers, Sony is working on 'Funny Girl' for Blu-ray in the near future.
Brice, a poor Jewish girl from New York's Lower East Side, rose to fame and won audience's hearts everywhere with her comic antics and powerful singing. Unfortunately, she had far less success in her personal life, and the film focuses on her doomed romance with her first husband, gambler Nicky Arnstein.
Specs have yet to be revealed, but supplements will include: Song Highlights, Barbra in Movieland, This is Streisand, Digitally Mastered Audio & Anamorphic Video Bonus Featurettes: "Barbara in Movieland" and "This Is Streisand", Filmographies, Bonus Trailers, Interactive Menus, and Production Notes.
Suggested list price for the Blu-ray is $19.99.
