A new Alexa function is now available on compatible Play-Fi devices.
DTS has announced the addition of Alexa-Preferred Speaker Functionality for "Works with Alexa" capable DTS Play-Fi products.
"We are excited to share this feature through the wide breadth of DTS Play-Fi powered devices," said Dannie Lau, general manager, DTS Play-Fi. "With this new ability, customers worldwide now have a simpler way of playing their music on their preferred speakers throughout their Alexa smart home."
The "Works with Amazon Alexa" feature for compatible DTS Play-Fi products enables users to control audio playback for their device via spoken commands through a separate Amazon Alexa product. And with the new Preferred Speaker option, customers can now designate a specific DTS Play-Fi device as their default music playback speaker for their Echo, Echo Dot, Echo Spot, Echo Show or other Amazon Alexa component. Once selected, users can control the default device through voice commands without having to specifically state the device's name.
Here's a full rundown of currently available certified DTS Play-Fi "Works with Alexa" devices:
Outside of Alexa support for select models, DTS Play-Fit tech enables customers to wirelessly play high quality lossless music from smartphones and tablets over an existing Wi-Fi network throughout the home. The tech can synchronize playback of a single source to multiple speakers; can stream different sources to different speakers simultaneously from the same mobile device; and can support individual music streams to separate speakers from different devices at the same time. Likewise, Play-Fi is not brand exclusive. This means that Play-Fi audio products from different manufacturers can actually work together seamlessly.
