Holiday shoppers can now receive free shipping on more orders.
Amazon has announced a special expansion of its Free Shipping policy for the holiday season. For a limited time, all customers can now receive free shipping with no minimum purchase amount on eligible orders that will arrive in time for Christmas.
"This holiday, customers can enjoy free shipping with no minimum purchase amount on orders that will arrive in time for Christmas, including items from Amazon’s expertly curated Gift Guides across electronics, fashion, home and toys," said Doug Herrington, Senior Vice President of North American Retail at Amazon. "With hundreds of millions of items available for free shipping to all Amazon customers and more than three million items available with Prime FREE Same-Day Delivery, customers can enjoy the largest selection of items that are fast and free."
Typically, Amazon only offers free shipping to standard customers for orders that include at least $35 worth of eligible items or $25 of books. But now, all eligible orders scheduled for delivery in time for Christmas are available for free shipping (5-8 business days) regardless of the total. The promotion is valid for hundreds of millions of items -- just look for the "FREE Shipping" messaging on the product detail page.
Meanwhile, those customers who sign up for Amazon Prime can enjoy even more shipping benefits, including free Same-Day Delivery on more than three million items. If an eligible item is ordered in the morning, buyers can receive their product that night -- seven days a week. In addition, Prime also offers delivery in as little as an hour for Whole Foods orders through Prime Now in more than 60 cities. Likewise, subscribers also still receive unlimited free Two-Day Shipping on more than 100 million products with no minimum purchase amount all year.
An Amazon Prime membership currently costs $119 per year or $13 per month.
