4K streaming is now available through Amazon's video service.
Amazon has announced the launch of Ultra HD streaming on Amazon Instant Video. The 4K collection currently includes several TV shows and hit movies.
"We want to deliver the best entertainment experience, and offering Ultra HD movies and TV shows raises the bar on quality and innovation that customers have come to expect from Amazon," said Michael Paull, Vice President, Amazon Digital Video. "We're also excited that Ultra HD is the latest benefit of the Amazon Prime membership, giving members instant access to great movies and TV shows in a premium picture resolution at no additional cost."
4K streaming is now available to Prime members and all Amazon customers through the Amazon Instant Video app on compatible Ultra HD TVs, including several models from Sony, Samsung, and LG. Prime members can now enjoy several titles in 4K at no additional cost, including Amazon original series like 'Alpha House' and 'Transparent,' the BBC original series 'Orphan Black,' and select Sony films such as 'Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon,' 'Funny Girl', 'Hitch,' and 'Philadelphia.' In addition, Amazon is also offering a larger selection of Ultra HD Sony titles that can be purchased for prices starting at $19.99, including hits like 'American Hustle,' 'Captain Phillips,' 'Godzilla,' 'Hancock,' 'Moneyball,' and 'The Amazing Spider-Man.' Finally, all Amazon customers can now watch the special 'Tony Bennett & Lady Gaga: Cheek to Cheek LIVE!' concert in 4K for free.
An Amazon Prime membership currently costs $99 per year, and includes free 2-day shipping, Prime Instant Video, Prime Music, Prime Photos, the Kindle Owners' Lending Library, and more. Ultra HD streaming of select titles is available to Prime members free of any additional costs. For more information about 4K streaming on Amazon Instant Video, check out Amazon's 4K Ultra HD Guide.
