Amazon has detailed a new addition to its tablet lineup. The Fire tablet ($50) is a low cost tablet with premium performance.

The Fire features a 7-inch IPS display with a resolution of 1024x600 and 171ppi. Under the hood, the device is powered by a Quad-Core 1.3 GHz CPU with 1 GB of RAM. A 2MP rear camera and a VGA front camera are integrated as well. In addition, the tablet includes 8GB of internal storage and offers up to seven hours of battery life.
