The streaming media player now offers robust YouTube support.
Sling Media has announced a software update for its SlingTV/Slingbox 500 player. The upgrade offers several new YouTube features bringing more content options to viewers with full-screen playback at up to 1080p.
First up, is the company's new "video snacking" feature. This option allows users to pull up a row of YouTube thumbnails during live TV playback that relate to the content being watched. The videos are chosen through special tech developed by Audible Magic that listens to the live content in order to find related clips. Next, is the new Trending YouTube tab in the player's Gallery View. This allows viewers to see the top trending videos on YouTube while still watching live TV. Finally, the company has also included a standalone YouTube app that enables navigation through numerous video genre categories. For a full rundown of the SlingTV/Slingbox 500's features and new YouTube options, check out the video below.
The SlingTV/Slingbox 500 player is currently on sale for $249.
