S1 Launches Blu-ray Disc Changer and Media Center
Fri Feb 05, 2010 at 01:30 PM ET
S1 Digital’s new 100 disc changer is more than just a Blu-ray player with a carousel. It’s also a media center and storage device providing instant access to your movies.
Disc changers have come a long way. Gone are the days of shuffling through to find the content you want. The S1 Digital Blu-ray Disc Changer grabs meta-data and cover art automatically and displays your disc choices on the screen, using the Windows Media Center interface.
And of course, since the S1 is a media center extender, you can watch all your compatible downloaded videos right on your television.
Even better, if you’ve got a Windows home server set up, you can archive your Blu-rays, DVDs and CDs automatically. Simply put the discs in the unit and S1’s Blu-ray player will automatically start the process.
Admittedly, S1’s Blu-ray Changer isn’t the prettiest thing, but it’ll get the job done. The changer is shipping now at an MSRP of $1,499.
