The all-in-one systems from Onkyo are designed for the bedroom, dorm room, or anywhere else a full system just wouldn't work.
It's amazing how many folks have great home theaters but then lose all that wonderful quality when they go to their bedroom or office, instead opting for an off-the-shelf clock radio or the stock iPod earbuds.
Onkyo's new mini systems are designed for use anywhere a full system wouldn't work out. The dorm room or summer cottage is exactly what Onkyo's got in mind.
The CS-V645 can handle both CDs and DVDs and can upscale video to 1080p. It includes MP3 and WMA compatibility and can even handle DivX video files. It's got an iPod dock on top too, so you can charge your device and play music at the same time. The CS-445 is essentially the same, but without the DVD capabilities.
Both systems utilize 40-watt stereo amplifiers and come with a pair of two-way bass reflex loudspeakers. You can pick up the DVD capable CS-V645 in December for $399 while the CS-445 will be out this month at $329.
