Criterion Collection releases of Gomorrah and Che coming soon.
The Independent Film Channel’s feature films have thus far been relatively unavailable on DVD due to an exclusivity agreement with Blockbuster. Starting this fall, thanks to a partnership with Criterion, IFC goes from having little DVD presence to having some of the best DVDs on the market.
Criterion Collections films are regarded as the finest DVD treatments that a movie can receive. In partnership with IFC they will be releasing such films as “Gomorrah”, Steven Soderbergh’s “Che”, and other movies considered the gems of the IFC catalog.
Bare bones editions of films not given the Criterion treatment will go through MPI, who are already releasing some of IFC’s films. The decision of which method to use will be a decision made on a case by case basis.
