Warner Home Video has given the first peek at initial specs and box art for its upcoming Blu-ray release of 'The Lord of the Rings' trilogy which will see a seven-disc set featuring theatrical versions of all three films.
Though the studio has already confirmed through previous publicity and marketing materials that Peter Jackson's Academy Award-winning blockbusters were in the preparation stages for Blu-ray, no concrete details had yet to emerge.
Now it appears that the first official materials are in, with Warner releasing initial specs of a box set, dubbed 'The Lord or the Rings: The Motion Picture Trilogy,' appearing at retail sites today (including Amazon.com).
There is still no street date as of yet, but early details indicate a seven-disc set, that will include the theatrical versions only of all three films in the trilogy -- 'The Fellowship of the Ring,' 'The Two Towers' and 'Return of the King.'
Suggested list price for the box set has been listed at $99.99.
Additionally, Warner/New Line has revealed a high-res image of the front cover of the Blu-ray:
There's no further tech or supplement details, but we expect additional details to emerge over the coming days and weeks. Needless to say, watch this space!
As we await a confirmed street date, we've added a listing for 'The Lord of the Rings: The Motion Picture Trilogy' to the "Release Dates Pending" section of our Blu-ray Release Schedule. Stay tuned...
