Disney has set a May Blu-ray arrival for the blockbusters 'National Treasure' and 'National Treasure: Book of Secrets.'
As previously reported, the studio has been teasing us with tidbits related to the Blu-ray release of the 'National Treasure' films for the better part of a month. First came a full specs for 'Book of Secrets' (but no street date).
Now, Disney has finally confirmed that both Nicolas Cage-starrers will make their highly-anticipated Blu-ray debut on May 20 (with 'Book of Secrets' arriving day-and-date with the standard-def DVD).
As we reported earlier this week, specs for 'Book of Secrets' include 1080p/AVC MPEG-4 transfer and an uncompressed PCM 5.1 Surround track (at 48kHz/24-bit).
Extras shared between the Blu-ray and DVD versions include a host of material, including audio commentary, multiple making-of featurettes and a blooper reel. Exclusive to the Blu-ray will be an additional featurette and deleted scenes.
There were no specs available for the original 'National Treasure' at press time, but the studio is expected to issue a full media release for both titles in the coming weeks. We'll keep you posted.
Retail for the Blu-ray versions of 'National Treasure' and 'National Treasure: Book of Secrets' will list for a suggested $34.98 each.
As always, you'll find the latest disc details for 'National Treasure' and 'National Treasure: Book of Secrets' linked from our Blu-ray Release Schedule, where they are indexed under May 20.
