Indie distributor Phoenix Entertainment in jumping into the high-def fray this
February with their debut HD DVD title, the direct-to-video crime caper 'The
Lawless.'
A blood-soaked tale of two undercover narcotics officers who must delve into
the dangerous world of the Mexican drug cartel after their families are kidnapped,
'The Lawless' is bypassing theaters to premiere directly on video February 5.
The release marks the next-gen debut for Phoenix Entertainment
Group, which is planning an HD DVD release day-and-date with the standard-def DVD.
At press time, it seemed Phoenix would be taking a bare-bones approach for 'The Lawless,' with the disc not currently announced as having any bonus features. Tech specs are not yet
known, but we'll keep you posted.
In line with the budget approach, the HD DVD version will retail with a suggested
list price of only $19.98.
You'll find the latest disc details for 'The Lawless' linked from our HD
DVD Release Schedule, where it's indexed under February 5, 2008.
