Honestly, at this point, I think that I continue to watch ‘Terra Nova’ primarily because I enjoy mocking it. It’s a very easy show to mock – especially after the recent revelation that the soldiers in the series carry Nerf rifles. Oof. While this week’s episode is actually a marginal improvement over that stinker from last week, it still has plenty of foolishness and general lameosity.

More and more movies are making their way to the small screen – and not just in syndication. First we got news of a ‘Source Code’ TV series, and now ‘Zombieland’ is getting the small-screen treatment as well. Much like the ‘Source Code’ series, ‘Zombieland’ will be brought to television by one of the film’s producers. But ‘Zombieland has a one-up on ‘Source Code’ – the writing partners who penned the ‘Zombieland’ movie are on board too.

OK, now we’re getting somewhere. It’s not that I’ve disliked the case-of-the-week episodes that ‘Fringe’ has focused on so far this season, but I’m eager to see some progress to the overarching storyline as well. While Friday’s episode doesn’t quite jump whole-hog back into that, it does at least move us forward and set the stage for some interesting developments to come.

I’m still waiting for the current season of ‘Fringe’ to kick into high gear. I mean, I know that we’re only three episodes in, and the show is clearly trying to re-establish some form of normalcy before unleashing the truly weird stuff on us. I’m sure that’s being saved up for later in the season. Even so, Friday’s episode was particularly low-key.

This is exactly the episode that ‘New Girl’ needed to define what the series will be like. The first two episodes spent most of their time focused on Jess and her weirdo personality. The guys sort of stood in the background, receiving minimal characterization. That finally changed in ‘Wedding’.

If you were hoping that Fox’s expensive new sci-fi adventure ‘Terra Nova’ might find its footing and start to improve after the dopey premiere, well, you’re going to have to keep hoping. The second episode (denoted “1.03,” because the two-hour pilot was technically considered two episodes) is no less cheesy than the first. In this one, the colonists have to play the most dangerous game of Angry Birds ever.

Two episodes into the new season, and it’s already clear that ‘Fringe’ is going to ease us back into the swing of things with a series of case-of-the-week stories, rather than provide answers to last season’s big plot twist cliffhanger right away. I suppose that’s to be expected. Fortunately, the case in this past Friday’s episode is pretty interesting.
