• Top 5 / Bottom 5: Michelle Williams

Posted Tue Mar 13, 2012 at 12:55 PM PDT by

Michelle Williams recently won a Golden Globe for her dead-on portrayal of Marilyn Monroe in 'My Week with Marylin.' In my opinion, her performance was good enough to win her an Oscar. She was beaten by Meryl Streep, but in my mind, Williams delivered the best performance by any actress in 2011.

  • HDD Attends a Virtual Roundtable with Andy Parsons (BDA) and Lori MacPherson (Disney)

Posted Mon Feb 27, 2012 at 12:40 PM PST by

Last week's roundtable featured Andy Parsons, Senior Vice President Corporate Communications for Pioneer Electronics (USA) Inc. and Lori MacPherson, Executive Vice President of Global Product Management for The Walt Disney Studios. Long job titles aside, the roundtable proved to be fairly informative as to the way that Blu-ray is moving, the technologies it hopes to work up to (like 4k resolution), and the expectations Disney has from the format.

  • Top 5 / Bottom 5: Gwyneth Paltrow

It's a well-known fact that High-Def Digest editor-in-chief Mike Attebery has a special fondness for Gwyneth Paltrow (and by fondness, I mean blinding hatred largely inspired by goop). That's why for this week's Top 5 / Bottom 5 article I decided that we'd take a look at Gwyneth Paltrow's filmography and see if we couldn't point out the good and the bad.

I'm convinced that the toughest part of Sundance is catching a screening that goes until midnight, and then turning around and going to a 9:00am screening the next morning. I don't do it very often, but that's what happened to me today.

People up here are much more talkative than, I assume, they normally are. It's just the environment of the festival that brings it out of them. They're ready and willing to share any experiences or advice they have with perfect strangers, although sometimes, the discussion really is unwarranted...

Buscemi has been in his fair of stinkers over the years. Pretty much any time he teams up with Adam Sandler you know you're in for a crappy Buscemi experience. On the other hand, whenever Buscemi teams up with the Coen Brothers, you know you're likely in for a great movie and performance.

Let's take a look at Steve Buscemi's career and see if we can narrow down his top five and bottom five movies shall we?
