'Blood Ties' Blu-ray Supplements Revealed[teaser]Guillaume Canet's 2013 crime drama is planned for Blu-ray in June. You can pre-order it here! [/teaser] In an early announcement to retailers, Lionsgate is preparing 'Blood Ties' for Blu-ray on June 3. New York, 1974. Fifty year-old Chris has just been released on good behavior after several years in prison following a gangland murder. Waiting for him reluctantly outside the prison gates is his younger brother, Frank, a cop with a bright future. Chris and Frank have always been different, and their father, Leon, who'd raised them alone, seems strangely to prefer Chris - this, despite all his troubles. Yet blood ties are the ones that bind. Frank, hoping that his brother has changed, is willing to give him a chance; he shares his home, finds him a job, and helps him reconnect with his children and his ex-wife, Monica. But Chris' past quickly catches up to him, and his descent back into a life of crime becomes inevitable. Based on a script by James Gray. Wallace Ritchie (Murray) flies to England to spend his birthday with his brother, James (Peter Gallagher). Wallace ends up taking part in the "Theatre Of Life," which promises to treat the participant as a character in a crime drama. Trouble begins, though, when Wallace is mistaken for a real spy and shoots a man. Now he's tangled up in a plot to kill Russian dignitaries on the eve of the signing of an important peace agreement. For him, it's all an act. But to the men who want a second Cold War, Wallace is public enemy number one. AUO Reveals First WQHD AMOLED Panel[teaser]The new 5.7-inch smartphone screen features a Quad HD resolution of 2560x1440. [/teaser] Taiwanese display manufacturer AUO has unveiled a new 5.7-inch AMOLED panel. With a 1440p screen and 513ppi, the screen is now the world's highest resolution panel of its type. Other company's such as Oppo, Vivo, and LG, have all been developing their own Quad HD smartphones, but those efforts feature traditional LCD panels. For now, AUO is the first company to officially reveal a Quad HD AMOLED screen, though Samsung is reportedly developing their own as well. AMOLED (active-matrix organic light-emitting diode) panels offer several benefits over standard LCD technology, including superior contrast and deeper blacks. The company also announced a 5-inch HD720 AMOLED screen that is only 0.57mm thick. Likewise, AUO plans to manufacture a 6-inch WQHD panel as well. 'Black Dynamite: Season One' Blu-ray Announced[teaser]The first 10 episodes of Cartoon Network's animated Adult Swim series are bound for Blu-ray in July. [/teaser] In an early announcement to retailers, Warner Brothers will be bringing 'Black Dynamite: Season One to Blu-ray on July 15. The Black Dynamite series further chronicles the exploits of the central character, Black Dynamite (voiced by Michael Jai White) -- a 1970s renaissance man with a kung-fu grip -- and his crew. His sidekick extraordinaire is Bullhorn, the brains and cunning that complements Black Dynamite's hard-hittin', bone-crushin' style. Providing comic relief on the mean streets is Cream Corn (Tommy Davidson) and classing up the place is the gorgeous Honey Bee (Kym Whitley). Live Streams, Live TV, and Vudu Come to Chromecast[teaser]A slew of new apps and updated features are coming to Google's streaming dongle. [/teaser] Google has announced the addition of several new services and features for its Chromecast media player, including live YouTube streaming, Vudu support, and live TV playback. First up, is the arrival of live streaming support from YouTube. Users can now stream live video from YouTube directly to the Chromecast. Currently, the feature is only supported from desktop computers, but an Android update could be in the works. Likewise, Chromecast now allows users to share private videos from YouTube too. Meanwhile, Google has also announced the addition of Vudu to its lineup of compatible services. Chromecast users can now browse Vudu's entire library of HD movies and shows, giving customers access to a growing collection of media available to rent or purchase. Those with applicable codes can also redeem their UltraViolet digital copies through the service as well. Finally, Aereo has revealed plans to release a new version of its live TV streaming Android app with Chromecast support. The service allows users in select cities to stream and record live over-the-air television through their internet connection. Aereo for Chromecast is expected to launch on May 29.
