'The Texas Chain Saw Massacre: 40th Anniversary Edition' Blu-rays Detailed[teaser]Tobe Hooper's classic horror will be getting two collector's editions this fall. [/teaser] As previously reported, MPI/Dark Sky Films will be releasing 'The Texas Chain Saw Massacre: 40th Anniversary Edition' on Blu-ray on September 16. A limited edition Black Maria version will also be available on October 14. A tale of five 20-somethings whose free-spirited road trip becomes a terrifying descent into madness. When they find themselves isolated in a rural Texas community, they fall into the clutches of a monstrous clan of Texas cannibals and find themselves being whittled away by the chainsaw-wielding Leatherface. It's been imitated and remade, but never equaled. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre rose from a notorious 1974 sleeper sensation to rank as one of the greatest horror films ever made. The film is being released with an all-new 4K digital transfer and newly created 7.1 surround sound mix supervised by director Tobe Hooper. This release marks the only transfer of the film to go back to the original 16mm A/B rolls, the actual film that rolled through the cameras. The year is 1859, feudal Joseon is plagued with numerous natural disasters, poor harvest, poverty, hunger and death. But the rich nobles are only concerned with their own wealth and continue to exploit and persecute the poor. In this dark period, KUNDO was a single shred of hope for the poor, an entity which can be the subject of fear to unjust nobles. After killing poor butcher Dolmuchi's mother and sister, millionaire Jo-yoon commands absolute power over him. Clouded by vengeance, Dolmuchi is accepted as a member of KUNDO, and unsheathes his sword for the weak. The Philips 288P6LJEB is now shipping with a suggested retail price of $799. The 28-inch 4K monitor uses a 16:9 TFT-LCD panel with a W-LED backlight system. With its fast 1ms response time and a color depth of 1.07 billion colors, the display is geared toward gaming and graphics applications and features a resolution of 3840x2160 and a refresh rate of 60hz. Sony Announces Curved-Screen 4K TVs[teaser]Sony has unveiled a new Ultra HD display model with a curved-screen design. [/teaser] Joining Samsung and LG's 4K curved-screen offerings, Sony has now detailed its own upcoming Ultra HD TV with a contoured display. The S90 promises impressive picture quality and an enhanced level of immersion. The S90 will come in 65-inch and 75-inch models and will feature a subtle curved-screen that is said to be less concave than LG and Samsung's models. Each set offers an Ultra HD resolution of 3840x2160, along with TRILUMINOS Display tech, Sony's 4K X-Reality PRO picture engine for UHD upscaling, and X-tended Dynamic Range for improved contrast and blacks. In addition, the TV includes active 3D support and an integrated 4.2ch Multi-angle Live Speaker system with an optional wireless subwoofer. US pricing and availability have not been announced yet, but in China the 65-inch model is expected to ship for about $5,360 and the 75-inch model is expected to ship for about $8,110.
