The popular media player is now available on Apple's streaming set-top box.
VideoLAN has announced the launch of VLC on Apple TV. The free, open source app offers support for virtually any media format.
VLC on Apple TV offers video and audio playback for a variety of file types in their native formats, along with chapter navigation, custom playback speed, and multiple audio and subtitle tracks. In addition, the app can play media from UPnP, Windows shares (SMB), FTP and Plex servers. Likewise, VLC also includes a Remote Playback option, which allows users to directly send video files from a computer web browser to the Apple TV.
The VLC app is now available to download on the Apple TV.
