AT&T customers who switch to T-Mobile can now receive a free year of DirecTV Now.
T-Mobile has announced the launch of a special DirecTV Now promotion. As part of the deal, AT&T Wireless customers who switch to the Un-carrier with T-Mobile ONE can now receive a free year of DirectTV's new streaming video service, DirecTV Now.
"AT&T wants you to think DIRECTV is theirs exclusively, but that's a load of crap. Both DIRECTV NOW and the DIRECTV apps stream free on T-Mobile with a faster, more advanced network that covers nearly every American," said John Legere, president and CEO of T-Mobile. "AT&T is so distracted by their new businesses and DIRECTV that they continue to ignore their 110 million wireless customers. Luckily, the Un-carrier's here to show them how to actually take care of customers!"
To take advantage of the promotion, AT&T customers need to activate two lines and bring their number to T-Mobile ONE. T-Mobile will then give customers a $35 monthly bill credit for 12 months to cover the monthly cost of the base DirecTV Now plan for a year – up to $420 total as long as the customer's lines remain active.
DirecTV Now is a stand-alone streaming platform that provides access to a variety of live channels and on-demand content through several programming packages starting at $35 per month. Likewise, users can add HBO and Cinemax for an additional $5 each per month.
Here's a rundown of current plans and pricing:
- Live a Little – $35 / month (60+ channels)
- Just Right – $50 / month (80+ channels)
- Go Big – $60 / month (100+ channels)
- Gotta Have it – $70 / month (120+ channels)
DirecTV Now is available through the Amazon Fire TV and Fire TV Stick; Android mobile devices and tablets; iPhone, iPad and Apple TV; Chromecast (Android at launch; iOS in 2017); Google Cast-enabled LeEco ecotvs and VIZIO SmartCast Displays; and Internet Explorer, Chrome and Safari web browsers. In addition, the service will expand to more devices, including Roku streaming players and Roku TV models, Amazon Fire tablets, and Smart TVs from Samsung and other leading brands in 2017.
New customers can receive a 7 day free trial when they sign up at www.directvnow.com and download the app from the Apple App Store or Google Play. And, as a special limited time offer, customers can also subscribe to the "Go Big" package with more than 100 channels for just $35 per month.
