Shenji Mikami's latest not quite ready.
Originally slated for an Aug. 2014 release, Shinji Mikami's upcoming return to survival-horror, 'The Evil Within' has a new release date: Oct. 21, 2014. Though no solid reason was given for the game's delay, much of its initial press was so-so, suggesting there was more work to be done than developer Tango Frameworks originally thought.
'The Evil Within' puts players in the role of Detective Sebastian Castellanos and is played from a similar perspective as Mikami's 'Resident Evil 4,' though it takes a more psychological approach to survival horror than the straight-forward jump and scare tactics imployed in the 'Resident Evil' series.
Mikami, creator of the 'Resident Evil' series, took a break from survival-horror in the past few years, working on such titles as 'God Hand' and 'Vanquish.'
Now expected in October, 'The Evil Within' will release on the Xbox 360, Xbox One, PS3, PS4 and PC.
