With free copies of 'The Stick of Truth' coming to preorderers.
'South Park: The Fractured but Whole,' the follow-up RPG to the 'The Stick of Truth,' was on display during Ubisoft's E3 conference today. Some new details were shared regarding some of the new gameplay mechanics coming to this sequel, as well as the game's release date. You can pick up 'South Park: The Fractured but Whole' starting December 6, 2016.
This game centers on the South Park gang playing superheroes (apparently already tired of playing fantasy after the events of 'The Stick of Truth'). Of course, the game will mock the recent trend of superhero movie franchises to no end throughout the plot, which has Cartman and friends divided (in a civil war of sorts) over how they should structure their movie releases.
In terms of actual gameplay, players will be able to customize their own superheroes, picking from a collection of hero archetypes. To start off, players look to be able to choose from the Brutalist, the Blaster, and the Speedster.
Another gameplay shift is the combat. While the first game took a 'Final Fantasy'-esque direction where each side lined up in a straight formation and stood still as they attacked in turn, 'The Fractured but Whole' takes combat onto the grid. Like in RPGs like 'Fire Emblem,' players will be able to move characters around a grid to get into the proper position to take down enemies.
Also announced was a special preorder bonus, wherein players who preorder 'The Fractured but Whole' get a copy of 'The Stick of Truth.'
