But there's hope for the future at least.
Not that this will shock most PC players at this point, considering the continuing lack of 'Halo 3' and '4' on PC, but anyone who maybe had hope for 'Halo 5' showing up on PC, considering Microsoft's newfound commitment to the platform, Allow Phil Spencer to pop that bubble. At Microsoft Build 2016, he had this to say about the possibility:
"'Halo 5' was shipped as a console game. If we're going to [put 'Halo' on PC] moving forward then we're going to plan on both platforms."
So, why not bring the Xbox's biggest franchise to PC. Well, his reasoning for not expecting the whole PC-Xbox love affair to be a universal thing sorta makes sense: "I don’t want to make it some kind of artificial mandate, because then I think we end up with Frankengames, games that really weren't meant for a certain platform. And because some suit said, ‘Hey, everything’s gotta run on both platforms’, you end up with something people don’t want. You should expect it when franchises look like they belong on both platforms, but I wouldn’t go so far as to say it’s a mandate for the studios because it’s not."
In 'Halo's case, he's not wrong in that 'Halo' is very much a console player's FPS, and there's no small number of PC folks who scoff at the franchise in general, compared to hardcore shooters on their platform. Although, Phil didn't exactly close the door in entirety.
"In terms of 'Halo' FPS on PC, I think there’s a ton of opportunity for us right now, but I don’t want to get into a world where we’re looking back, like at 'Halo 5'. It doesn’t mean there’s nothing there that could ever end up on PC, but I’d much rather look forward with what our plans are."
Basically, reading between the lines here, we'll meet back here in 2017/18-ish so us console folk can help explain what the deuce happened with the Guardians at the end of 'Halo 5'.
