More movie channels are coming to the recently launched internet TV service.
Sling has announced a new agreement with EPIX that will bring more channels and VOD options to the online streaming television platform. The deal includes EPIX, EPIX2, EPIX3 and EPIX Drive-In plus.
"Our customers crave the newest movies like 'The Hunger Games: Catching Fire' and 'Transformers: Age of Extinction,' but they also have a growing appetite for the classics and EPIX delivers both," said Roger Lynch, CEO of Sling TV. "Sling TV will feature EPIX's linear channels and movies on-demand in an add-on package that is accessible and affordable."
In addition to the live EPIX channels, the new deal also includes more than 2,000 on-demand movie and entertainment titles. An exact launch date and pricing plan for the EPIX content will be announced in the coming weeks. Meanwhile, the current core Sling TV package includes ESPN, ESPN2, TNT, TBS, Food Network, HGTV, Travel Channel, Adult Swim, Cartoon Network, Disney Channel, ABC Family, CNN, El Rey, and Galavision for $20 per month. In addition, the company will soon offer AMC as part of the same package as well. The service also provides select on-demand content and unique media from Maker Studios, and customers can opt to expand their lineup with three add-on packs for an additional $5 each per month.
"Sling TV is an innovative new way to deliver content to consumers who are looking for alternatives beyond traditional pay television," said Mark Greenberg, president and CEO of EPIX. "From the very creation of EPIX, we have sought to capitalize on new technology to reach people with our movies where they want them, when they want them and how they want them. This is another exciting step forward with a great partner in that effort."
The Sling TV platform is now available on Roku players, Roku TVs, the Amazon Fire TV, Amazon Fire TV Stick, PCs, Macs, and Android and iOS tablets and smartphones. Support for more devices is expected in the near future.
