'Skylanders,' grandaddy of the toys-to-life market behemoth, introduced a few franchise mixups at Gamescom as Activision gears up for the release of 'Skylanders: Trap Team' later this year. Firstly are the minis, even more pocket-sized, figurines with the same functionality in-game as their larger counterparts. The characters they represent definitely go with a smaller, cuter look.
So far, Activision has listed 16 minis for release with Trap Team.
For the first time, the tablet version of 'Skylanders: Trap Team' will release on the very same day as the console version, out in the world with its very own Starter Pack. Included in such are two characters, two of the new "traps" figurines, a figurine portal, a display stand, a tablet stand and, most importantly, a Bluetooth-enabled controller to make the game a little more playable on those touch screens.
The tablet version of 'Skylanders: Trap Team' is on iOS, Android and even the Kindle Fire and, according to Activition, is the full version of the game. It releases alongisde the Xbox One, Xbox 360, PS3, PS4, Wii, and Wii U versions on Oct. 5.
