Several new smartphones have been revealed.
Samsung has officially unveiled its latest collection of mobile products. The lineup includes the premium Galaxy Fold, Galaxy S10+, Galaxy S10, Galaxy S10e, and Galaxy S10 5G.
"Today, Samsung is writing the next chapter in mobile innovation history by changing what's possible in a smartphone. Galaxy Fold introduces a completely new category that unlocks new capabilities never seen before with our Infinity Flex Display." said DJ Koh, President and CEO of IT & Mobile Communications Division, Samsung Electronics. "We created Galaxy Fold for those that want to experience what a premium foldable device can do, beyond the limitations of a traditional smartphone."
The Galaxy Fold is a unique luxury mobile device with multiple screens, allowing the unit to serve as a smartphone and tablet in one. When folded, the Galaxy Fold offers a 4.6-inch HD+ Super AMOLED (21:9) display, providing a compact and portable smartphone experience. In addition, users can unfold the unit to reveal a 7.3-inch Infinity Flex QXGA+ Dynamic AMOLED (4.2:3) display, offering a larger tablet experience. A sophisticated, hidden hinge system is designed to hold strong through hundreds of thousands of folds, ensuring easy transitions from the small screen to the big screen.
Under the hood, the device uses a 7nm 64-bit Octa-core processor running Android 9.0, 12GB of RAM, 512GB of onboard memory, and sound by AKG. Likewise, a unique dual battery design is implemented as well, allowing the device to combine separate batteries on each side into one power source. Six cameras are also integrated, including a rear 12MP wide angle, rear 12MP telephoto, rear 16MP ultra-wide, front 10MP selfie, front 8MP RGB Depth, and cover 10MP camera.
And thanks to those impressive specs and larger main display, the device is able to support three-app multi-tasking, allowing users to watch YouTube videos, chat on WhatsApp, and Google search at the same time with three windows opened simultaneously. Likewise, the device offers an App Continuity feature, enabling the Galaxy Fold to seamlessly carry over apps from the small screen to the big screen when users unfold the device.
The Galaxy Fold is set to launch on April 26 with prices starting a $1,980. Color options will include Space Silver, Cosmos Black, Martian Green, and Astro Blue.
Meanwhile, Samsung also detailed its new Galaxy S10 lineup, including the Galaxy S10, S10+, S10e, and S10 5G.
"Since its launch ten years ago, the Galaxy S series has stood for premium innovation – offering consumers an incredible experience, and the ability to find the device that’s right for them," said DJ Koh, President and CEO of IT & Mobile Communications Division, Samsung Electronics. "Galaxy S10 builds on that incredible legacy, and delivers breakthrough display, camera, and performance innovations. With four premium devices, each built for a unique consumer in mind, Samsung is leveraging a decade of industry leadership to usher in a new era of smartphone technology."
The flagship Galaxy S10+ features a 6.4-inch Quad HD+ Curved Dynamic AMOLED 19:9 (522ppi) display. In addition, the screen supports HDR10+ with dynamic tone-mapping, 1200 nits peak brightness, and 100% color volume. A triple rear camera system is integrated as well, with a wide angle 12MP, telephoto 12 MP, and ultra-wide 123-degree FOV 16MP camera. Likewise, the device offers HDR10+ video recording capabilities and front camera UHD video recording capabilities. A suite of new effects for lighting and background blur are also provided, along with an Instagram Mode. Finally, the smartphone uses an all-day battery that lasts up to 25% longer than the previous model.
In addition, Samsung has revealed an even more premium Galaxy S10 5G model with support for new 5G network speeds. The smartphone features a larger 6.7-inch Quad HD+ Curved Dynamic AMOLED 19:9 (505ppi) screen, a quadruple rear camera system with a 3D Depth Camera for 3D-image capturing, and a 4,500mAh battery with Super Fast Charging at 25W.
And for those looking for slightly smaller smartphone models, the standard Galaxy S10 features a 6.1-inch Quad HD+ Curved Dynamic AMOLED 19:9 (550ppi) screen, and the Galaxy S10e features a 5.8-inch Full HD+ Flat Dynamic AMOLED 19:9 (438ppi) screen.
The Galaxy S10, Galaxy S10+, and Galaxy S10e will start shipping on March 8. Pre-orders will launch on February 21 with prices starting at $899.99 for the Galaxy S10, $999.99 for the Galaxy S10+, and $749.99 for Galaxy S10e.
