The new sound bar comes with voice control capabilities.
Polk Audio has announced the latest addition to its sound bar lineup. The Polk Command Bar includes integrated support for the Amazon Alexa Voice Service.
"Intelligent voice services like Amazon Alexa have fundamentally transformed how we interact with our surroundings. However until now, the home theater was devoid of an elegant solution," said Kevin Duffy, CEO and president, Sound United. "For the past year, we worked to develop a sound bar that profoundly changes how we interact with the home entertainment experience. The result is a product that produces Polk Audio-quality sound for movies and music, while simultaneously delivering voice control not yet found in a traditional sound bar."
The sound bar features two 1.25 x 3.25-inch full-range drivers, two 1-inch tweeters and a ported, wireless 6.5-inch subwoofer. In addition, built-in far-field microphones are included atop the device, enabling Amazon Alexa support. With the Polk Connect Skill, users can control the speaker's master volume, mute, bass, sound modes, and source selection through voice commands. Likewise, customers can also ask Alexa to play music, control compatible smart home devices, provide news and weather, set alarms, read audiobooks from Audible, control a connected Amazon Fire TV, and more. Connectivity options includes dual HDMI 2.0b inputs with 4K Dolby Vision HDR passthrough, an optical input, an HDMI ARC out, a USB port, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth. Finally, Dolby and DTS audio decoding are offered as well.
"Voice is an incredibly natural way to interact with your home, and we're excited to work with Polk Audio to bring customers a new Alexa experience for the home theater," said Dave Limp, senior vice president of devices and services at Amazon. "With the new Polk Command Bar, customers get great sound quality and Alexa voice control for an even better entertainment experience."
The Polk Command Bar is set to arrive this spring for an MSRP of $299.95. Preorders will launch through Amazon on April 1.
