Timed-exclusivity is up for the class-based shooter.
EA has announced that the previously Xbox-exclusive 'Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare' is hitting both Playstation home consoles, the PS3 and PS4, on Aug. 19. The class-based shooter features three modes – team vanquish (deathmatch), Gardens and Graveyards (a mixture of 'Battlefield's' conquest and rush modes) and the cooperative, wave-based Garden Ops.
This announcement comes after yesterday's playful Twitter intimation, during which a number of Playstation/Garden Warfare mash-up images hit the web. It seems, though, those images were more than just a prelude to this announcement. Players who pre-order with the PS4 or PS3 version of the game will receive "two digital card packs and PlayStation exclusive customization for both their plants and zombies characters including Hat Packs from Ratchet & Clank, Sly Cooper and Fat Princess games," according to the press release, though the 'Fat Princess' items only apply to digital pre-orders.
Other than the unique customization options, however, it seems the Playstation versions of the game will be feature-symmetrical to the Xbox versions, though the press release makes no mention of the microtransactions added to the game post-release. Cooperative split-screen and Boss Mode, a riff on 'Battlefield's' commander mode, will be available on the Playstation 4, just as it is on the Xbox One.
'Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare' is also coming to the PC on June 26. The Playstation versions will likely round-out the game's platform releases, though a Vita version wasn't mentioned as of yet. The press release makes no mention of pricing, though the original versions cost $40 on the Xbox One and $30 on the Xbox 360.
