The company has unveiled its first Android tablet slated for a Q1 2015 release.
Nokia has announced its latest gadget, the N1 tablet. The device will be the first Nokia-branded Android tablet to hit the market.
"We are pleased to bring the Nokia brand back into consumers' hands with the N1 Android tablet, and to help make sophisticated technologies simple," said Sebastian Nyström, Head of Products at Nokia Technologies, who announced the N1 at the Slush technology conference in Helsinki. "The N1 has a delightfully intuitive interface and an industrial design to match it. This is a great product for Nokia fans and everyone who has not found the right Android tablet yet."
The Nokia N1 features a 7.9-inch zero air-gap IPS panel with a resolution of 2048x1536 and a 4:3 aspect ratio. Under the hood, the tablet is powered by an Intel 64-bit Atom Z3580 Processor at 2.3 GHz, PowerVR G6430 at 533 MHz, 2GB of RAM, 32GB of storage, and a 5300 mAh rechargeable lithium polymer battery. An 8MP rear camera and a 5MP front camera are included as well. In addition, the tablet comes with the latest Android 5.0 Lollipop OS and includes Nokia's Z Launcher interface.
Nokia's N1 tablet is expected to launch in the first quarter of 2015 for around $249. The tablet will debut in China first and will then expand to other markets.
