Upcoming Xbox One beta worth getting excited about.
2K Games' 'Evolve' has had lots of demos, and even a very public alpha, which might lead players to the conclusion that they've seen the whole game. Not so. Not only has 2K Games and Turtle Rock just revealed the game's third monster, which surprisingly isn't as giant as the game's other monsters, but it seems that the game has a dedicated offline mode.
The Wraith is a "small, terrifying, stealthy assassin that is quick in her movements and has two exceptionally long blades to deal damage up close." Playing or facing the Wraith means facing the game's smallest signature monster, one whose low health and weak (by degrees) armor is offset by serious speed and having to contend with four abilities – warp blast, decoy, abduct, and supernova.
To learn more about the Wraith, there's an interactive trailer:
In a move that should please of lot of traditional fans, 2K Games has revealed the extent to which 'Evolve' offers offline play. "Every character, every map, and every mode in Evolve can be experienced entirely offline as a solo player competing against computer-controlled opponents. Whether playing as the Monster, or hot-swapping between an entire team of four Hunters, Evolve’s unique blend of 4v1 gameplay is particularly enjoyable alone when playing the dynamic campaign, Evacuation, which combines the full array of maps and modes into a highly replayable experience."
Finally, the Xbox One beta is coming January 15th, and it will start with the game's Hunt mode. From 15th-19th all Xbox Gold players can play the Hunt mode with the Goliath and Kraken as well as the first eight hunters. Then on the 17th, the game's Evacuation mode will open up, and that will be exclusive (in terms of beta) to the Xbox One beta. For the Xbox One, all monsters and hunter unlocks will carry over from the beta to the final game.
A much smaller beta will happen on PC on January 16th, followed by a similar small beta on the PS4 on January 17th. These betas won't have Evacuation mode or have unlock progress carry over.
