An update straight from Bioware explains delay.
Much as everyone was hoping to be taking a new galactic crew out exploring this year, Bioware has announced that 'Mass Effect Andromeda' will be slipping back a bit to drop sometime in early 2017.
The official statement from Aaryn Flynn, General Manager over at Bioware, goes as follows: "As we’ve been playing the game at the studio recently, it’s showing us that we’re taking the game in the right direction. But we also know we need the right amount of time to make sure we deliver everything the game can be and should be – that’s our commitment from all of us to all of you."
The statement also reiterates just what might be taking the extra time, which seems to emphasize the fact that 'Andromeda' seems to be leaning more towards an open-galaxy sort of set up, on top of being build in DICE's sexy Frostbite Engine. Both of which demand a bit of meticulousness that doesn't necessarily lend itself to crunch time. Besides, I think, Bioware's earned that kind of trust that it'll all be for the better, and HUSH WE'RE NOT GONNA GET INTO ANOTHER 'MASS EFFECT 3' ENDING DEBATE.
