July a much smaller update than June.
June was big for Microsoft and the Xbox One. June updates included external storage, real name options, automatic sign-in, as well as the removal of the Xbox Live Gold restrictions on media apps and even the debut of Games With Gold on the Xbox One. By comparison, July's updates are a much smaller offering.
Chief among the updates is the recently introduced Snap Mode for Achievements, through which players can track their achievement progress by snapping the Achievement to the right side of the screen. Once snapped, users can even 'Get Help' by requesting that the Xbox One do a web search on the achievement in question.
To help organize the growing list of snap-able apps and make them easier to control, users can now double tap the Xbox button to bring up the Snap-Center, which enable access to the Achievements app and any other snap-able apps and all without leaving the game.
Now users the world over are no longer restricted as to which language they use for voice control on the Xbox One. "Folks in New Zealand, Ireland and Austria, with this update in July, will be able to select voice control using the English or German voice models from other countries. And if you’re an expat in an English-speaking country, you, too, can choose any of the other English language models that fit you."
Though it may not be obvious instantly, the July update will allow publishers more options with regard to bundling physical and digital content in compilations. This bundling may be a result of the massive bundle of content in the upcoming 'Halo: The Master Chief Colelction'
Finally, users will now be able to systematically 'Like' Game DVR clips and feed items in SmartGlass.
