New trailer and special video series detailed.
I actually got to play the remastered 'Journey' back in December at Sony's Holiday Showcase in NYC, and have been absolutely baffled why it's taken so long to get the full experience at home considering it felt like the game was done even then. The wait, however, appears to have been worth it. 'Journey' is finally getting released on PS4 on July 21st. Even better, it's being released as a cross-buy with the PS3 version. Which means--you guessed it--if you bought it before, it's ostensibly free.
What you get for the low, low cost of free is a glorious overhaul, as you can see in the new trailer, which can be cranked up to 1080p/60fps for the full effect. An already stunning game has been made absolutely magical for current-gen, and it's a game that blossoms on multiple playthroughs. To support that fact, Sony has also started a hashtag, similar to what Nintendo's doing with Let's Super Mario, called #OurJourney, in which players are invited to post video testimonials on what the game meant to them, in terms of reactions, interpretations, and emotions. The game's director, and thatgamecompany founder Jenova Chen has taken the initiative, posting the first video delving on the feeling of actually making the game, and it's a brief, but heartfelt look into the creative process behind 'Journey'.
Instructions on how to participate can be found at the Playstation Blog. The shiny, pretty trailer can be found below.
