There's still plenty of folks still stranded on the previous generation of consoles, and every single one of those folks has gotten a raw deal this year, with most of the big titles either having their previous gen ports cancelled, or the ports being scaled way, way back to function, evident just today, with 'Black Ops III' going to previous gen minus a campaign.
And then every once in a while, the developer gods smile, and someone actually puts some effort in to give the old systems some love, with 'Destiny: The Taken King' and 'Metal Gear Solid V' both turning out miraculously well on old-hardware. Now, it looks like the 360 port of 'Rise of the Tomb Raider' will be joining them.
Dedicated screenshot site All Games Beta has posted some comparison shots and a video, embedded below, of the previous gen version of the game, and while there's definitely a marked difference in the level of detail and lighting, the two games look and play astoundingly similar.
Of course, that's not too surprising, considering the first game looked absolutely amazing when it launched on 360/PS3, with the Definitive Edition giving the same the same upgrade in lighting, textures, character model we're seeing on the Xbox One version of 'Rise'. Still, we're dealing with a 10 years-old piece of hardware. By all rights, it SHOULDN'T look this good.
So, rejoice, 360 folks. You'll have something pretty to look at this AAA season too. Behold:
